The first day in April has been traditionally known as “April Fools Day” and it is rather interesting that the Bible mentions the word “fool” or “fools” several times. The Bible describes people who declare that there is no God as FOOLS! Here is an actual quote from the book of Psalms from the Old Testament:
The FOOL hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good. God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, that did seek God. Every one of them is gone back: they are altogether become filthy; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.” Psalms 53:1-3
We can learn a bunch from that passage of scripture. The passage of scripture tells us that the FOOL has said in his HEART, that there is no God. A person does not even have to verbalize the fact that he or she does not believe in God! God already knows what is going on inside each and every heart! The Bible teaches us that God is looking down from Heaven, and observing everything that is going on down here. God is watching everything, whether a person CHOOSES to believe that or not! Here is another quote from the Bible, where Jesus Christ tells a parable about a rich man who believed that he had plenty of time to live, but had no idea that it would be his last day on Earth! Do not miss the fact that the man “thought within himself” but God knew what was going on within his heart!
“And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth. And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, Thou FOOL, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.” Luke 12:15-21
Here is another passage from the Bible, where Jesus Christ had a talk with two men AFTER he had been crucified and rose from the dead. The two men were talking about the recent events in Jerusalem regarding the man Jesus Christ who was killed. Jesus pulls up alongside them and asked them what they were talking about. It is both humorous and serious at the same time.
“And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was from JERUSALEM about threescore furlongs. And they talked together of all these things which had happened. And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them. But their eyes were holden that they should not know him. And he said unto them, What manner of communications are these that ye have one to another, as ye walk, and are sad? And the one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answering said unto him, Art thou only a stranger in JERUSALEM, and hast not known the things which are come to pass there in these days? And he said unto them, What things? And they said unto him, Concerning JESUS of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people: And how the CHIEF PRIESTS and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to DEATH, and have CRUCIFIED HIM. But we trusted that it had been he which should have REDEEMED ISRAEL: and beside all this, to day is the THIRD DAY since these things were done. Yea, and certain women also of our company made us astonished, which were early at the sepulchre; And when they found not his body, they came, saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, which said that HE WAS ALIVE. And certain of them which were with us went to the sepulchre, and found it even so as the women had said: but him they saw not. Then he said unto them, O FOOLS, and slow of heart to believe all that the PROPHETS have spoken: Ought not CHRIST to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? And beginning at MOSES and all the PROPHETS, he expounded unto them in all the SCRIPTURES the things concerning HIMSELF.” Luke 24:13-27
The Lord Jesus Christ told the two men that they were FOOLS and slow of heart (understanding) because they should have known what the scriptures said concerning him. Once again the Lord dealt with the “heart” and the “understanding” of the two men, and showed them that their understanding was faulty! Do you see why it is important to KNOW the scriptural truth for yourself? Do not be a FOOL for the Devil. The same Lord Jesus Christ who spoke to the two men on the road to Emmaus is rich in mercy to you also!
Jesus Christ said this AFTER he rose from the dead!
“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be SAVED; but he that believeth not shall be DAMNED.” Mark 16:15-16
Jesus Christ said this AFTER he rose from the dead!
“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, ALL POWER is given unto me in HEAVEN and in EARTH. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” Matthew 28:18-20
The Jewish apostle Paul said this AFTER he was converted to Christ!
“For when we were yet without strength, in due time CHRIST died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his LOVE toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, CHRIST died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be SAVED from wrath through HIM.” Romans 5:6-9
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be SAVED.” Romans 10:13
